The pedigree of this place is impeccable. The previous owner of Tribeca’s well known jazz joint Duane Park and Greenwich Village’s The Dove Parlour has returned to Yorkville and opened an intimate cocktail lounge that he “personally would hang out and enjoy a drink.”
Vinus & Marc recalls the grandeur of the 1920s and ’30’s: no gimmicks, just an atmosphere of old-world charm. Rather than imitate the vibe of the speakeasies downtown, though, it offers a more open and inviting environment similar to European hotels during Prohibition. So there are no hidden passageways or exclusive memberships, just comfortable chairs with a great selection music playing in the background to set the tone.
The cocktail list includes classics from the Prohibition era as well as original creations rooted in the current golden age of cocktails. There’s also a carefully curated wine list. A menu of local and fresh food that are easy to eat while you’re holding a cocktail in your hand. Feeling more famished? There are also robust entrees.
Each week features an “On This Day In History” round, a rapid-fire “Name Threes” round, the best-curated audio round in the city, and tons of prizes, including books, theater tickets, and much more. It’s not just a great quiz, it’s a party, guaranteed to make you feel good!
No cover, teams of up to 6 players allowed (more than that and you just play as two or more teams; no big deal). Come early for Happy Hour, and come often for a good time.
